Editorial: Getting Down To Work
Days of Caring kicks off 2012 United Way Campaign.
GETTING DOWN TO WORK
United Way of Dane County’s Agenda for Change is about nothing if not getting things done, so it seems a bit redundant to point out how today, and tomorrow, and the weeks to follow during this 2012 campaign giving season is about work. But the theme of this year’s campaign is There’s Work To Be Done and we’re ready to get down to it.
It starts with the Days of Caring of course, with thousands of volunteers turning up for three days of giving back through volunteer projects. It kicks off Tuesday at 11 a-m at Alliant Energy’s Willow Island and if you’re hearing this before 11 a-m Tuesday you can just show up and participate. But there’s also work to be done to reach this year’s goal which will be announced at the kick-off and you can bet it’ll be more than last year’s sixteen-point-eight Million dollars.
And finally there’s the work to be done ensuring that money meets this community’s needs. We’ll have more to say about that as the campaign progresses.
