Editorial: Community schools cap Madison Community Foundation’s Year of Giving
MADISON, Wis. — Wouldn’t you know the Madison Community Foundation would put the community at the heart of its capstone gift to close a remarkable year of giving to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
After distributing $1 million in 12 monthly gifts to Greater Madison assets, such as the Clean Lakes Alliance, Madison365, the Penn Park restoration and the Nolen Waterfront Project, MCF announced at its annual Madison Gives dinner that it is creating a $1.1 million challenge grant for the Foundation for Madison Public Schools to grow and sustain the Community Schools Initiative.
The gift will help align schools and community resources to do what it takes to close opportunity gaps.
It’s the largest grant in the Madison Community Foundation’s history and it has the potential to have the largest impact. There are those words again – community and impact. MCF has had 75 years of community impact and has a future of unlimited potential community impact to come.
