Editorial: Circle of friends
MADISON, Wis. — It seems a little inadequate to describe the folks attending Wednesday’s Foundation for Madison’s Public Schools luncheon as a circle of friends.
Really big crowd of friends is more like it. It’s been a pretty significant last few weeks for Madison’s schools, with friends aplenty stepping up to support them and our kids, all of our kids, learning in them.
Between the Adopt-A School event, the Madison Community Foundation’s extraordinary gift to help expand the district’s designated community schools, and the strong and clear message of equity, inclusion and success expressed at the Circle of Friends luncheon it feels like Madison is stepping up its commitment to supporting our schools. And that feels important.
It helps to have some positive results to build on, but we like the direct message that no one is satisfied and that now is the time to double down on expectations and outcomes of achievement for every child.
