Editorial: A Different Research Request
Parkinson's studies need volunteers and money.
A DIFFERENT RESEARCH REQUEST
Our friend, former Wisconsin Public Television journalist Dave Iverson wrote to us last week to tell us he’s again running in the New York Marathon to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Dave’s got Parkinson’s in the family and he’s been doing a fair amount of work for the Foundation in recent years. The best news is Dave himself is healthy enough to run a marathon for crying out loud. But he also had a request, and it wasn’t just money. It was for volunteers.
Parkinson’s research, like other health studies, depends on volunteers, those who have the disease and those who don’t. There are a variety of research projects ongoing and a variety of ways you can participate. All the information is at foxtrialfinder.michaeljfox.org. We have an awful lot of respect for Iverson’s work on this and it struck us as something worth passing on. If you or someone you know might be able to help we’d be pleased.
