Edgewood High School dismisses lawsuit against city of Madison
MADISON, Wis. — Edgewood High School is dismissing its lawsuit against the city of Madison.
President Mike Elliot said in a letter that the high school has decided to voluntarily dismiss its lawsuit “in a good faith effort to try and resolve the issue of lighting on its on-campus athletic field without further litigation.”
Last year Edgewood announced they were suing the city for discrimination.
The letter goes on to say that they are beginning an application process to put up lights on its athletic field.
“It is Edgewood’s expectation that the process will result in the city issuing Edgewood the permits necessary to erect lights on the athletic field before the start of the 2020-2021 academic year,” Elliot said.
A statement from Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said that “once an application is received, Edgewood’s application will be subject to the same conditional use approval standards that apply to any other property owner.”
