East Side neighbor helps police capture burglar

Police: Man drives by officers in damaged car, arrested on 5th OWI

A 15-year-old was arrested in connection with a burglary on Madison’s East Side after an alert neighbor called police with a good description of the suspect involved.

The incident happened in the 2800 block of Myrtle Street just before 9 a.m. on Monday.

According to police, the neighbor called police after seeing the burglar enter the back of a home after removing a window screen.

Police said the neighbor saw the man leave a couple minutes later and gave responding officers an excellent description of the person involved.

Officers said they quickly spotted the burglar, who was caught after a foot chase.

A 15-year old was arrested with a stolen laptop computer inside his backpack, according to police.
