East side home burglarized, entry attempted at other homes

A home on Madison’s east side was burglarized Tuesday, and entry was attempted at two other homes in the neighborhood, according to police.

Police were called to the 4500 and 4700 blocks of Armistice Lane at about 5 p.m. to a report of a burglarized home. Police said the burglar got into the home by removing a window screen and going through the window. Electronics and cash were taken from the home.

Residents in the neighborhood told police about attempted entry into two other homes. In each case, window screens were removed.

Another resident told police a man came to her door that afternoon asking for “Brian.” She told him there was no one by that name living there and he left. The resident said the man walked toward the back yard of another home before she lost sight of him.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair, bad teeth and carrying a blue backpack.
