East side Great Dane set to reopen bar after fire
Bar area set to reopen Tuesday, kitchen still closed for renovations
MADISON, Wis. — The east side Great Dane is set to reopen this week after a fire caused $150,000 in damage in mid-November.
According to a release from the Great Dane, the bar area of the east side location will be reopening Tuesday.
“After many hours the east side location is ready to open again,” the release said.
However, due to renovations, the kitchen will not be serving food for another couple of weeks, officials said.
The Nov. 15 fire was reported in the kitchen area when grease ignited in the ventilation shaft of the kitchen grill.
There were no injuries reported during the incident, and the damage was limited to the first floor kitchen and the third floor kitchen and bar area.
According to the Great Dane website, the two-story east Madison location opened in November 2010.
The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co., which includes four locations in Madison and one in Wausau, was celebrating its 20th anniversary the week of the fire with a variety of events and promotions.
