East Side apartment fire causes $25,000 in damage

Firefighters extinguished an attic fire on Madison’s East Side just before midnight Tuesday.

It happened just before 11 p.m. at the Meadows apartment complex in the 200 block of North Thompson Drive.

Fire officials said residents were forced out of the 8-unit, 2-story complex after fire alarms sounded.

Fire crews opened up the drywall in an apartment to find a small fire in the attic space and quickly put out the fire.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.
