East Madison DMV office now open Saturdays
The Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles’ Madison East Service Center began its expanded hours Saturday.
The office, located at 2001 Bartillon Drive, will opening every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Southwest Region Manager Tracy Howard said the east side office is one of eight across the state to open on Saturdays.
“This has been in the works for a little over a year,” Howard said. “We had a pilot in the Milwaukee area, two stations opened on Saturdays about a year ago, and it was very successful.”
Howard said the opening provides added convenience to Madison area residents.
“For those that do need to come, I think having a Saturday option is great,” Howard said. “They don’t have to take a day off of work or something like that.”
One east side resident who visited the DMV Saturday said she appreciates the added convenience.
“I have two kids and it’s a little difficult to get here during the week,” Heather Driscoll said. “My husband and two kids came along and we made it a family outing.”
Howard said the DMV may expand Saturday services if there’s enough demand. She said the east location had about 60 customers Saturday.
“[That’s] a little light for us, but being the first day with really not much advertising, I think it’s great so far,” Howard said.
Customers can still visit the DMV’s Renewal Center on the city’s west side on Odana Road for Saturday services; it opens from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Services are also available on the Division of Motor Vehicles website.
