Duane M. Roeske
MADISON / CABLE-Duane M. Roeske, age 79, left his earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.
He was surrounded in his final days and survived by the love of his life of 58 years, Muriel G. Turnbull and his family, as he peacefully went to be with the Lord that he faithfully followed all his days. Duane was born on Feb. 2, 1933, the son of Herbert and Johanna Roeske. He married Muriel in July of 1954.
The pride of their lives together were their four boys, Mark (Cindy) of Mauston, Dan (Kerry) of Lancaster, Pa., David (DeAnne) of Stoughton, and Martin (Ann) of Wautoma. Duane is also survived by his seven grandchildren whom he loved so deeply, Danielle (Mike) Marin, Scott (Stephanie), Kristine, Brad, Michelle, Eric, and Luke Roeske; his five great-grandchildren; and sister, LaVerne Alme. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Irvin.
Duane was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served in the Korean War from 1950 until 1954. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 8483. Duane returned to serve his community in the Madison Fire Department and followed as the Town of Madison Fire Chief until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he returned to Lake Namekagon, where he enjoyed the north woods.
A Celebration of Duane’s Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Chapel Duane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Cable, where he served. All that knew Duane will miss his humor, his card magnetism, countless stories, and big hugs. “As for me and my house, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” Joshua 24:15
