Duane (Butch) Ophime
Duane “Butch” Ophime, age 69, of DeForest, WI passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at SSM St. Mary’s.
He was born on October 10, 1947 in Madison, WI, the son of Donald and Betty Ophime. Butch worked in auto body repair and was known all around Dane County for his paint work on cars, trucks, newspaper vending machines and US Postal boxes. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren fishing, watching car racing at Jefferson Speedway and NASCAR. He was an avid Packer fan, sharing his birthday with Brett Favre. Butch also would like to go to Country Cafe each morning for coffee and had many friends there.
Butch is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie; children, Michael, Jennifer (Ollie), David and Roy (Rachel Aldworth); grandchildren, Ashlea Jarrett, David Ophime Jr., Daniel Ophime and Christopher Murphy; and great-granddaughter, Madeline. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his brother, Dennis (Jean) Ophime; sister, Jane Ryan; and brother, Joe (Mary Wild) Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ophime and Betty (Ophime) Ryan; stepfather, Edward Ryan; sister, Connie Ryan; his maternal and paternal grandparents, father and mother-in-law, Roy and Bette Kupp; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the kind nurses and doctors at SSM St. Mary’s and the staff at Waunakee Manor.
A Memorial Service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2017, with Rev. Thomas Moe presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Burke Lutheran Church Cemetery followed by a celebration of life.
