DSHA’s Ogunbowale sets record in win vs. Middleton

Waunakee falls to Pius in WIAA Div. 2 semifinals

DSHA’s Arike Ogunbowale set a WIAA girls state tournament single game scoring record with 55 points as the Dashers defeated Middleton, 86-76 in overtime at the Resch Center Friday night.

Ogunbowale broke the previous record of Middleton’s Angie Halbleib (now Verona head coach Angie Murphy) of 43 set in the 1993 tournament.

The Notre Dame recruit was 21-45 from the field, 3-9 from 3-point range and made 10 of 11 free throws. She also had 12 rebounds in the game.

DSHA got 76 points out of two players, Ogunbowale and Taylor Drost who added 21.

Cole Jordee led Middleton with 18 point while Bria Lemirande and Elizabeth Noregaard both chipped in 11 points.

Middleton ends its season with a 22-5 record.  DSHA is 25-2 and will play for the Division 1 state championship Saturday night.
