Drunken driver hits multiple cars, leads deputy on pursuit, sheriff says
TOWN OF EXCELSIOR, Wis. — A Spring Green man led sheriff’s deputies on a short pursuit Saturday afternoon after being involved in a hit-and-run crash involving several vehicles, officials said.
The Sauk County 911 center received a call around 1:30 p.m. reporting a hit-and-run crash with injuries involving three vehicles on Highway 23/33 near Aults Road in the town of Excelsior, according to a release.
A deputy located the suspect vehicle heading east on Highway 23/33, but the driver failed to stop, officials said.
After a brief pursuit, the driver, 44-year-old Shawn P. Moran, of Spring Green, pulled into a private driveway and yard, damaging a fire number sign in the process, according to the release.
Moran was arrested on tentative charges of sixth-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, causing injury while operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, knowingly fleeing an officer, open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, failure to obey a stop sign, hit-and-run causing injury, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a probation violation.
