A Madison man was arrested after drugs and a loaded handgun were found during a traffic stop in the town of Bristol.

The Dane County Sheriff’s office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a driver suspected of speeding at 12:10 a.m. Thursday on County Road N at Vinburn Road in the town of Bristol.

The deputy said he was walking back to his squad car to check the driver’s information when he saw two baggies tossed out the window of the vehicle. Sun Prairie police also responded to assist, and a search of the vehicle produced a bundle of cocaine, a bundle of marijuana and a loaded .40 handgun.

The baggies that had been tossed from the vehicle were also recovered by the deputy, and are believed to contain ecstasy, according to deputies.
