Drivers try to avoid suspected drunken driver, deputies say
TOWN OF BELOIT, Wis. — Motorists had to take evasive action to avoid being struck by a man who was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated, according to a release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputies spotted the erratic driver at 8:18 p.m. Saturday heading south on South Riverside Drive near Cranston Road in the town of Beloit.
The deputy stopped the vehicle said the smell of alcohol was coming from the driver, who also failed field sobriety tests.
Landry Loftus, 57, of Lake Geneva, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense OWI. He’s scheduled to appear in court Monday.
