Driver not seeing much playing time
WR says he'll be ready when needed
GREEN BAY, Wis. — After seeing a whole lot of Donald Driver during his “Dancing with the Stars” competition, fans didn’t see much of Driver in the Packers season opener against the 49ers Sunday.
In fact, until Greg Jennings had a groin injury late in the game, Driver wasn’t on the field at all. Driver did play three plays in the final series, but didn’t catch a pass and wasn’t even the target of one.
So even though he made the roster for his 15th NFL season, is Driver not in the plans? Both Driver and other Packers told fans his time will come
“I’m not the kind of guy who’s just going to go off and snap and all that– that’s never been me,” said Driver. “I’m just going to sit back and let things play off itself.. You know, I think I’m ready to play and when that time comes, I’ll be ready.”
“We know what Donald brings us,” said quarterback Aaron Rodgers.”He’s made a lot of plays this preseason, and he’s going to make a lot of plays for us this season.”
The Packers could use anyone and everyone to make plays Thursday night because if the season opener is any indication, the Chicago Bears might be a pretty good football team. The Bears beat the Indianapolis 41-21 Sunday in Chicago. But the Packers hope the home field will be an advantage Thursday.
