Driver leads deputies on vehicle, foot pursuit, officials say
TOWN OF BLOOMING GROVE, Wis. — A Cottage Grove man led Dane County deputies on a vehicle and foot pursuit Thursday night after fleeing from a traffic stop, deputies said.
A Dane County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop around 11:40 p.m. on Highway 30 near North Fair Oaks Avenue in the town of Blooming Grove, according to a release.
The driver, 35-year-old Michael Betts, refused to stop and led the deputy on a 9-mile pursuit that ended on Geminin Drive in Madison, deputies said.
Betts got out of the vehicle and led deputies on a short foot pursuit, according to the release. When he was apprehended he physically resisted deputies, but was eventually controlled.
Betts faces tentative charges of eluding, operating on a revoked license and obstructing. He was also arrested on a probation and parole warrant.
According to the release, the vehicle pursuit did not result in any crashes.
Betts was treated at a hospital for a minor injury that he got during the arrest, deputies said.
