Driver dies in head-on crash with semi in Columbia County
Authorities said car crossed center line
COLUMBUS TOWNSHIP, Wis. — A driver was killed in Columbia County after a crash involving a semi truck.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said a car heading east on Hwy. 60 in Columbus Township crossed the center line and sideswiped an oncoming semi truck just before 10 a.m. Saturday.
The car’s driver died at the scene, while a passenger was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Authorities did not release the identity of the car’s driver, pending notification of the family.
Authorities said it was unknown whether speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
