Driver: Broken brake pedal causes car to crash into Madison home
MADISON, Wis. — A west Madison woman told officials that a malfunctioning brake pedal caused her car to crash into a house Saturday night, according to a news release.
The Madison Fire Department said firefighters and paramedics responded at 7:34 p.m. to a home on Blackwolf Drive in response to a medical alarm. Responders found a vehicle inside the garage where it had crashed through the wall and into the house.
Crews found a woman sitting in the passenger seat, according to a news release. She told the fire department that her brake pedal wouldn’t work, which caused her car to crash through the wall. She reported minor injuries and was taken by paramedics to a local hospital.
Firefighters inspected the house to make sure nobody was inside and to ensure there were no imminent hazards like leaking fluids or electrical arcing, the department said. Electrical power feeding that area of the house and garage was shut down until repairs can be performed.
The crash caused about $20,000 worth of damage to the home and the vehicle, the report said.
