Driver asleep in running vehicle faces 4th OWI, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A Fort Atkinson man faces his fourth drunken-driving charge after police found him and his passenger early Saturday morning asleep with the car running on North Stoughton Road, police said.
Madison police were called around 2:55 a.m. to North Stoughton Road at East Washington Avenue for reports of a car stopped in traffic and facing the wrong direction, according to a release.
The car’s front wheels were on the curb, with the rest of the vehicle on the street, officials said. The vehicle was running and the headlights were on.
The officer woke up the driver, 26-year-old Ricardo Velasco-Salinas, and had him roll down the window so the officer could turn off the vehicle, according to the release.
Velasco-Salinas was arrested on a tentative charge of fourth-offense operating under the influence.
