Downtown Madison celebrates the holidays with Shine On Madison

Seasonal light displays to start Nov. 17

Madison will “shine on” this holiday season as the Madison Central Business Improvement District hosts its holiday celebration Nov. 17 to Jan. 1.

Shine On Madison, a six-week community event, started last year to increase visibility of downtown businesses, a release said. More than 100 different events will be hosted throughout Shine On Madison.

This year there will be even more seasonal lights, with seven community light displays and 13 decorated areas. The release said the Madison Community Foundation helped BID add new lighted activity areas and partner light displays last year. These lights, along with more than 100 snowflake pole lights will illuminate, the downtown area.

The displays will be turned on at 6:08 p.m. on Nov. 17 and stay on throughout the event.

Some of the other events include a window display competition, a winter night market, a holiday open house and a downtown Madison cookie walk. Click here for a full list of events.
