Douglas J. Guenther
JANESVILLE— Douglas “Duke” J. Guenther, age 70, of Janesville, died on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Janesville on May 18, 1942, the son of Douglas L. and Ethel (Creek) Guenther and was a 1961 graduate of Janesville High School. He married Mary Hudson on May 25, 1963, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Janesville. Duke owned and operated Guenther Construction until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, watching football, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; 2 children, Melissa (Rob) Suter and Martha (Brendan Montgomery) Guenther both of Janesville; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Benjamin Suter; a brother, Arly Guenther of Janesville, sister, Vikki Guenther of Janesville; 2 nephews, Garrett (Shannon) Guenther and Kyle Guenther; and lifelong friends, Jim Hedgecock and Ron Pulcine; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville.
