DOT highlights detour as overnight Beltline closure to cause delays
MADISON, Wis. — A portion of the eastbound Beltline will close for about seven hours Monday night into Tuesday morning as crews continue work to remove a west Madison bridge, according to a release.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the Beltline between Gammon and Mineral Point roads will close Monday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday for demolition work on the High Point Road bridge.
The posted detour route will use Mineral Point Road and Gammon Road. The westbound Beltline will remain open overnight with a single lane closure, the state DOT said.
Motorists should expect lane closures in both directions starting at 7 p.m., according to the release.
The same portion of the Beltline was closed overnight Wednesday and Thursday as crews worked on the bridge last week.
The Beltline will also be closed in late May for crews to set new bridge beams, the DOT said.
The High Point Road bridge over the Beltline will be shut down for seven months beginning Monday, as the DOT widens it to accommodate four lanes of traffic, as well as bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
