Dorothy A. Schulz
DeForest: Dorothy A. Schulz (Soderquist), born 4/10/30 in Aitkin, MN died 9/4/12 at University of Minnesota Medical Center – Minneapolis, MN after a sudden illness. Dorothy moved from Aitkin to Madison in 1962, working as assistant personnel director at Central Wis. Center and Mendota Mental Institute. Moving to DeForest in 1976 with husband Don, she was involved in the community. Her steadfast work and passion for handicrafts enhanced her home, her family and her neighbors. The Altar Guild of Christ Lutheran Church paired with the Quilting group and Lefse team became focal points in her retirement years.
Those who knew Dorothy will remember her wit, her creativity and her love of travel. Her passport shows Europe, Mexico and Japan entries. She mastered the Interstate system to attend the many hockey and dance team events of the “grandkids in Minnesota” and return to hometown Aitkin for the popular “All Class Reunions”. She maneuvered the airports to reach her sister and family in the beautiful Skagit Valley in Washington. Deemed the official photographer of most events, Dorothy made a lasting memory with her family on a trip to Lake Tahoe in August 2011.
