Dorothy A. Ludwig
Madison-Dorothy A. Ludwig, age 83, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
She was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 20, 1929, the daughter of Genevieve Abramson. Dorothy was a compassionate, generous and caring parent and friend. She was fun-loving and adventurous. Dorothy loved to travel. She went on many trips with her husband Bob and after he died she continued to travel. She shared her love of travel with her family by taking them on vacations. She had good friends and tour guides in Joyce and Butch. They opened up a whole new vista of life for Dorothy and her husband Bob.
Dorothy made friends wherever she went whether on a cruise down a river in Germany, a bus tour of Utah or standing in line at the grocery store. Dorothy was active, “a live wire”, loved to dance (when her knees weren’t hurting), loved to sing, loved music. Dorothy enjoyed time during the summer at the family cabin. Most winters would find her in Florida walking the beach, collecting shells and hoping to see Dolphins in the bay so she could go out and play with them. It was very hard for her after Bob passed 4 1/2 years ago but she still made an effort to live life and be adventurous. Dorothy truly enjoyed and appreciated her travel companions. She had a lot of fun with her condo friends and appreciated the support following Bob’s death.
Dorothy is survived in death by her daughter Karen (Mike Litzkow) Ludwig; her son David (DeAnn) Ludwig; her grandchildren Darin (Runge), and Danielle Ludwig; in-laws Tom (Barbara) Ludwig, and Barbara Lee; beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ludwig; and her mother Genevieve Abramson.
A Memorial Service will be he held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012, at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5720 Portage Road, Madison, with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating.
