Doris O. Young

Doris O. Young, age 89, of Bear Valley passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Schmitt Woodland Hills in Richland Center. She was born on September 2, 1923 in Viola, Wisconsin, the daughter of Floyd and Agnes Hadley Perkins. Doris attended elementary and high school at Viola. On October 9, 1940 she was united in marriage to Walter J. Young. Doris worked as a homemaker and alongside her husband and children on the farm. She was also employed at Badger Ordnance in Baraboo, Dog and Suds in Richland Center and for several years operated a lunch wagon for auctions. Doris was a long time member of Bear Valley Brown Church, the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club, Hill Country Classic Power, Richland County HCE (Homemakers) and the ladies auxiliary of the VFW.

Doris is survived by her daughters: Bonnie Clift of Bear Valley, Rebecca (Wayne) Blinston of LaValle, Rita Gulsrud of Sextonville, sons: Duane Young of Bear Valley, Jack (Connie) Young of Spring Green, special nephew Richard Young of Bear Valley, 10 grandchildren , 18 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, sisters: Peggy Lawrence of Viroqua, Shirley Fry Sopha of Lake Geneva, brothers: Jerry (Anita) Perkins of Readstown, Bruce (Darlene) Perkins of Janesville, Fritz (Lorna) Perkins of Viroqua, Max (Carol) Perkins of Janesville. She is further survived by many nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, two brothers: Floyd, Jr., and Robert Perkins; sons in law: Everett ‘Smokey’ Clift and Kevin Gulsrud, daughter in law Jenny Young and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 120 North Park Street, Richland Center, Wisconsin 53581. Burial will be in the Brown Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the Doris Young family.
