Doris Elaine Schultz

Doris Elaine Schultz

Doris E. Schultz, age 86 of Baraboo, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo.

Doris was born July 5, 1930 to Christian and Amanda (Zimmerman) Rasmussen at their family home in Briggsville. Growing up near Lake Mason, Doris enjoyed spending time at the cabins built by her father on the lake. Many summer days were busy with visiting relatives, neighbors and guests. She began her childhood education in a one room country school house. After grade school, the family moved to Wisconsin Dells where she graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1947 at the age of 16. Following graduation she attended the Milwaukee School of Business in Milwaukee. She returned to Wisconsin Dells and married the love of her life, Ken Schultz on August 5, 1951 at the Newport Church. Together they started what would become Schultz Enterprises, Inc. in 1955. Doris applied her business and secretarial skills for several years while also raising four beloved children. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was instrumental with her husband in helping start the elementary school. She was active for years in the Ladies Aid group as well as other church activities.

Through the years she enjoyed precious time with her family snowmobiling in the winter, cooking meals, Friday night fish dinners and taking trips to various parts of the United States. Doris was an avid reader, loved to tend her flower gardens and used her sewing skills to make towels for everyone. The family will miss her special potato soup, scallop corn and birthday cakes in the shape of butterflies, dogs, giraffes and reindeer. In later years, Doris enjoyed spending time with her friends playing tennis, bridge and sharing lunches.

In life she valued most her husband of 65 years, her children, grandchildren and most recently a great-grandchild, Reid. She reminded us of the preciousness of life and we will try to carry on her gentleness, patience and hard-working attitude.

According to Doris’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held. The family wishes to thank all who cared for her during the last days, St. Clare Meadows – Lana, Lori, Sarah and all of the staff, Bright Star – special person Cathy and Oak Park Assistant Living. We could not have made mom’s journey possible without your help.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bernice Welch. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ken Schultz, her children Debbie (Tim) Tofson, Brian Schultz, Greg (Lori) Schultz and Tim Schultz. She is further survived by her grandchildren Dain (Laura) Tofson, Ben Schultz, Jordan (Samantha) Schultz, Sydney Schultz, Quinn Schultz and great-grandson – Reid Tofson, and sister Evelyn Neck, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Trinity Lutheran School in Wisconsin Dells would be appreciated.
