Donna’s Oven Baked Ribs
Ribs are certainly not known for being healthful but they will make a great Super Bowl treat. Try this super easy sauce. It is lighter in flavor than heavy bottled barbeque sauces. Bake them in the oven until tender the day before your party. Broil them in the oven just before serving. You don?t have to fire up the grill in sub-zero weather.
1 tablespoon canola oil 3 pounds pork spareribs salt and pepper 1 cup ketchup 1 cup diet cola 1 cup fat-free beef broth
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a heavy Dutch oven, heat oil. Add ribs in batches. Cook until lightly brown. Discard any fat. Return all ribs to the pan. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, cola, and broth. Pour over ribs. Cover pan. Bake for 3-5 hours or until ribs are very tender. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Remove and discard any hardened fat.
When ready to serve, preheat oven broiler. Line a baking pan with aluminum foil. Place ribs on pan. Place under the broiler and broil until heated through and brown on top.
