Donna’s chocolate nut pumpkin brownies

Oh I love these brownies – a new twist on an old recipe. Super moist and delicious.

3/4 cup butter, melted
1-1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Divide batter into 2 bowls

In one bowl add

1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

In second bowl add

1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 x 9″ pan or a 7 x 11″ pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, and vanilla. Beat well. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat well. Pour half of the batter in a second bowl.

To the first bowl, add pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg, and walnuts. Beat well.

In the second bowl, add cocoa powder and chocolate chips.

Spread 1/2 of the chocolate batter in the bottom of the pan. Top with 1/2 of the pumpkin batter. Top with the remaining chocolate batter. Top with remaining pumpkin batter. Using a knife, gently swirl through the layers to create a marbled appearance.

Bake for 35 – 40 minutes. Cool in the pan. Cut into squares to serve.
