Donald “Zeke” J. Zeman
Donald J. “Zeke” Zeman, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 18, 1928 in Okee, the son of William and Josie Zeman. Zeke married Bernie Meffert October 1, 1957; she preceded him in death in 1992. On August 31, 1995 he married Marilyn Heibel. Zeke enjoyed socializing with his family and friends, dancing, going out to eat, curling and golf. He had fun hanging out at the local watering holes and coffee shops. Zeke was a big supporter of the Wisconsin Badgers; including involvement in the Mendota Gridiron Club. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lodi Optimist Club, Lodi Golf Club and the Lodi Curling Club. Zeke farmed his whole life on the family farm; while also working as a Dekalb Salesman and selling Bucky Brand fertilizer. Zeke is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Michele (Roger) Wipperfurth, Mark (Belinda) Zeman, Tracy (Karl) Sachtjen and Terri (Nichie Bendt) Zeman; grandchildren, Tamara, Troy (fiance Cydney), Tony and Tory Zeman, Sierra and Desmon Sachtjen; stepchildren, Dawn (Dave) Helt, Tom (Julie) Heibel, Lori (Kevin) Rademacher and Jennifer Heibel; step grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas and Jeremy Helt, Natalie (Chris) Schwartz, Camden, Zachary, and Bailey Heibel, Tyler and Ryan Rademacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernie; son, Scott Zeman and sister, Marian (Vick) Link. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED TRINITY CATHOLIC PARISH AT ST PATRICK’S CHURCH LODI, 521 Fair St., at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with Father Scott Jablonski presiding. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at ST. MICHAELS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 109 S. Military St., Dane, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, Reach Out Lodi or to a charity of donor’s choice. Special thank you to Faith Day Center in Prairie Du Sac, the guardian angels at Agrace HospiceCare; especially Natalie, the two Kevins, Kelly and Lyndsey, also to Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena and to Dr. Ewalt for all the care they gave Zeke.
