Peewee was born on January 25, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of James and Shirley (Birch) Stecklein. He was united in marriage to Kathy Johnson on October 11, 1985 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville.

Peewee graduated from Platteville High School in 1977 and from there went onto school at Southwest Technical College for two years to become and automotive specialist. He worked for Stephen’s Motors in Platteville until it was sold to Ubersox, where he worked for the last 10 plus years. He played softball in the Platteville men’s league for many years, where he made many lifelong friends.

Peewee was also an avid bowler where he bowled in Platteville and Dickeyville for many years. He was one of the largest Indianapolis Colt’s fans you would ever meet, as well as, the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago White Sox. With Kathy being a Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan, it always made for and interesting and enjoyable day when their teams played each other.

Peewee was also a lover of cars, especially his challenger. He was an avid bicyclist; in August 2015 he rode 100 miles in Door County, Wisconsin, in 7 hours and 20 minutes. But most of all in his life, he loved to spend time with his wife, Kathy, and two daughters, Angela and Shelby. He never missed a daddy/daughter date with Angela to the dairy days antique car show, in 23 years.

Peewee is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Angela (Kevin Neuhaus) Stecklein and Shelby (Nathan Potter) Stecklein; and his son (dog) Roscoe; grand puppies, Tough Guy and Axle; mother, Shirley Stecklein; three brothers, Spanky (Karen) Stecklein, Tom (Mina) Stecklein, and Nick Stecklein; sister, Jeanne (Bob) Moore; as well as many other extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James; sister, Lisa Warne; mother and father in law, Marabelle and Ronald Johnson; brother, Duke; and son (dog) Bo.
