FALL RIVER/COLUMBUS—Donald J. Roche age 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Larson House, Columbus. He was born on August 27, 1927 in Columbus to Robert and Mary Ellen (Gorman) Roche. Donald was a 1946 graduate of the Columbus High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald was married to Carol Jean Wodill on April 18, 1964 in Doylestown. Donald was formerly employed for The Milwaukee Road, Fall River Foundry and the Waupun Correctional Institution. He retired from Mosinee Converted Products in Columbus. Donald loved time spent snowmobiling. He also enjoyed traveling every year, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the John C. Brossard VFW Post 2219, Fall River and St. Patrick’s Church in Doylestown.
Survivors include his son, Jeffrey (Rhonda Giese) of East Troy; one daughter, Julie (Steve) Hein of Columbus; two granddaughters, Kendra and Kayla Hein; a brother, Eugene (Donna) Roche of Rio; three sisters, Mary Hemling and Ellen (Delbert) Langsdorf all of Rio and Patricia Huggett of Pardeeville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Jean in 1999; a son, Robert; a daughter, Lucille; a brother, John; a sister, Alice Hepp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Doylestown. Rev Steve Kortendick will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 22 at the funeral home, and from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or charity of one’s choice.
