Donald Eugene Gottschalk
Donald Gottschalk, age 67 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2017 at his residence following a lengthy bout with leukemia.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home, 450 County Highway HH, Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Rev. Gloria Stubitsch officiating with military rites to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
Donald was born July 22, 1949 in Libertyville, Illinois the son of Elmer and Loraine (Dickson) Gottschalk. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971 and was honorably discharged. He returned home and in June of 1973 he married Eileen Vasey in Wauconda, Illinois. Donald lived in Island Lake, Illinois and worked as a cement mason finisher out of Union Local 11, Area 362, for 40 years and retired in 2011. He also had been a member of the Island Lake Lions Club for over 10 years. Donald enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding and building wooden furniture. With his wife, Eileen, they purchased rural property in 2000 near Lyndon Station where they presently live. Beginning in 2005 they began building their dream home through their own efforts. Don enjoyed having friends over and much consideration in the property design was also given to accommodate his camping friends.
Donald is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughters, Michelle Lynn of Fairfax, Virginia and Melissa Marie of Santa Barbara, California; brothers, Elmer (Ann) Jr. of Lake Forest, Illinois and Robert (Sandra) of Lebanon, Indiana; and a sister, Vicki (Jerry) Pegelow of Buffalo, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Richard.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
