Domestic incident leads to crash, bridge jump

An Oregon Township woman was treated at a hospital after authorities said she was involved in a domestic disturbance, crashed her motorcycle and went missing after jumping off a bridge into the Yahara River.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said Leah Andaverde, 37, was involved in a domestic disturbance in Madison at 9:02 p.m. Sunday before she left on her motorcycle and was involved in a crash on westbound Highway 12 on the Yahara River Bridge in Monona.

A deputy said Andaverde jumped off the bridge when they arrived at the scene. There was a 30-foot drop and footprints found leading away from where she landed.

A search was conducted and Andaverde was later found and treated at a hospital.
