DOJ: Over 200 reports of clergy and faith leader abuse made in last year

MADISON, Wis. — Nearly a year after launching an investigation into clergy sexual assault, Attorney General Josh Kaul said his office has received over 200 reports.

The Department of Justice said Tuesday that 204 completed reports have been made as part of the Clergy and Faith Leader Abuse Initiative, accusing over 150 people of abuse. Of those reports, officials said 51 were from survivors who had never reported to anyone. One of the previously unreported cases led to a person being arrested and charged in Waushara County earlier this year.
