DOJ: Madison man sentenced for distributing crack cocaine

A Madison man was sentenced Tuesday to federal prison for distributing crack cocaine, according to a release from the United States Attorney’s office.

Andre L. Bauswell, 36, was sentenced to five years for distributing more than 2 ounces of crack cocaine, officials said. He pleaded guilty to the offense July 31.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb said the recent investigation showed Bauswell had distributed heroin and crack cocaine, and that Bauswell had been previously convicted of a drug crime, according to the release.

In August 2006, Bauswell was convicted of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute, and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison, according to the release.
