DNR: Hunters take 11 percent fewer turkeys
DNR blames poor hunting conditions for decline
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin wildlife officials say spring turkey hunters killed fewer birds this year.
The Department of Natural Resources says hunters killed 37,804 turkeys, down 11 percent from 2012.
DNR officials blamed poor hunting conditions, with unseasonably cold weather that persisted through May, deep snow in the north and rain, snow and wind in the south.
