DNR asks people to fill out form after reported cougar sightings in Devil’s Lake State Park
BARABOO, Wis. — Department of Natural Resources officials are encouraging Baraboo-area residents and visitors to fill out a specific form to help track down a possible cougar reportedly seen over the weekend.
DNR officials received a number of reports of a cougar in one of the campgrounds at Devil’s Lake State Park over the weekend, Scott Walter, large carnivore specialist with the DNR, said.
He said at this time, with the evidence they have and information from a number of tracking experts, it is not possible to confirm the sightings.
Walter said it is important for people in the park and the surrounding area to be on the lookout, and he encouraged anyone who thinks they see a cougar or other large mammal to fill out the DNR’s online form for such sightings.
