Divers search for missing swimmer in Lake Mendota
Man went under the water early Friday morning
MADISON, Wis. — The search for a missing swimmer has prompted more than 50 divers and two boats to search the waters of Lake Mendota early Friday morning.
The man was reported missing at about 2:46 a.m. Friday by a 22-year-old woman. The pair was swimming near the Memorial Union when the man went under the water.
The woman attempted to help the man to shore but called police when he didn’t resurface.
His clothes were found along the shore.
The Madison Fire Department’s Lake Rescue team and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department’s dive team are searching for the man.
