BARABOO, Wis. — Divers from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department plan to search the Baraboo River for a missing man.
Frank O. Shimnoik, 57, of Rock Springs was reported missing Sunday by his nephew who told deputies his uncle left a wedding reception Saturday night and didn’t make it home.
Shimnoik said he would walk home from the reception at the Rock Springs Community Center. His nephew said there’s no sign Shimnoik made it home.
His family told deputies he has walked home in the past and always walks along County Road DD to get home. The family found his hat and glasses along County Road DD on opposite sides of the highway.
A search was conducted between Rock Springs and Shimnoik’s home on Sunday, according to deputies.
Shimnoik’s brother, John Shimnoik, told News 3 Frank is a quiet guy and carefree.
The dive team is searching the Baraboo River along the east side of County Road DD near where his glasses were found.
“We started searching the river today, as well as going back over the ground area that we searched,” said Chip Meister, Sauk County sheriff. “The fact that his glasses were found by the river and the fact that the canine unit is expressing a lot of interest down by the river, that’s what caused us to start searching the river.”
