Dive teams recover body of boy in Peters Lake
WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. — The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after dive teams recovered the body of 14-year-old boy in Peters Lake Sunday evening.
WDJT reported that the boy was last seen around 3 p.m. in Peters Lake near Camp Timber-lee at the Cedar Grove campground.
Camp Timber-lee Christian Center put out a statement saying that the camp was being used, as it has the only boat launch into Peters Lake. The camp was not yet in session.
Assisting agencies used drones, boats with sonar and divers to attempt to locate the boy.
The sheriff said the lake’s depth and weeds made the search difficult. Search teams found the body just after 8 p.m., WDJT reported.
According to officials, the boy is presumed to have drowned.
The boy’s identity is expected to be released Monday.
