Disabled man found in Cross Plains identified, police say
CROSS PLAINS, Wis. — Authorities have identified a man who was found in Cross Plains Wednesday morning.
Dane County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer had said the man is disabled and uncommunicative. He was found in the 8000 block of Highway 14 near Cross Plains about 10:50 a.m.
Around 2:30 p.m., Middleton police said the man was identified and his family was found and notified.
Police said the man had been found wearing green hospital scrub-type pants and one slipper.
Deputies took him to a hospital. He didn’t appear to be injured, Schaffer said.
The man is not from the area, but it appears he left his home in a vehicle and came to Dane County, where he has extended family.
He left his vehicle in a separate location and walked on foot, and a resident of the Town of Cross Plains called to report he appeared lost.
The man was taken to an area hospital as a precaution; there is no criminal investigation.
