Derald Eugene Stronach

DeForest/Lodi- Derald Eugene Stronach, age 72, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Madison.

He was born on February 15, 1942 in Poynette, WI, the son of George and Thelma (Haug) Stronach. Derald served in the Army and received a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Derald was a collector of vintage John Deere tractors. He enjoyed selling sweet corn at his roadside stand and talking to all the people that would come by. Derald took many trips to Ho Chunk and would also take an annual trip to a cabin in Springstead where he enjoyed fishing. When he wasn’t traveling, he liked to garden or hunting for bargains at Delaney’s. Derald was also known to tease his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and nurse at the VA.

Derald is survived by his mother, Thelma Stronach; his siblings, Bev (Bert) Powell, Richard (Shirley) Stronach, Marlene (Dave) Spencer, and Duane Stronach; his children, Derald (Clare) Stronach Jr., Debra (Joe) Moran, and Darla (Arnie) Fischer; his grandchildren, Jamie L., Samantha, Jamie B., Danielle, Brittany, Lucas, Cody, Travis, Brandon, Kendall, Sam, Teagan, Kimberly, and Eric; his great-grandchildren, Alexia, Kellen, Madison, Spencer, Braxton, Allyson, and Parker; his special friends Warren Loveland and Joe Ripp; many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Stronach; and a brother, Gary Stronach.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 S. Main St., DeForest, with Pastor Jerry Olson officiating. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A second visitation will take place on Wednesday at the church from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Norway Grove Cemetery.
