Deputy on leave after confrontation leaves 1 dead

In Walworth County, a sheriff’s deputy has been placed on administrative leave after he shot and killed a man.

Authorities said officers were called to a trailer home about 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

When they arrived, they found a man with a man with a knife threatening to commit suicide.

When the man threatened deputies and refused to drop the knife, a deputy shot him.

The confrontation lasted 16 minutes.

The administrative leave the deputy was placed on is standard procedure for the county.
