Deputies: Semi pulls in front of truck, 2 injured

WHITEWATER, Wis. — Two men were injured when a semitrailer took a left turn in front of their pickup truck, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Highway 12 and Walworth Avenue in Whitewater at 12:342 p.m. on Monday for a report of a crash with serious injuries.
Investigators said the driver of the semi, Mouh Seguir Hammoutene, 43, of San Antonio, Texas, failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic while trying to turn onto Walworth Avenue from eastbound Highway 12. Witnesses told deputies both vehicles had a green light at the time of the crash.
Hammoutene was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth Paul, 52, of Milwaukee, suffered serious chest injuries and his passenger, David D. Williams, 33, of Milwaukee, suffered severe lower leg injuries and chest injuries, according to deputies. Both were taken to a local hospital. Hammoutene was not injured.
The road was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
Whitewater police, Whitewater Fire and Rescue and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.
