Deputies respond to string of thefts from vehicles in Dane County
MADISON, Wis. — Dane County sheriff’s deputies have responded to 18 reports of thefts from vehicles over the last three weeks, according to a release.
Officials said the thefts have been reported in the villages of Deerfield and Cambridge and the town of Albion.
Almost all of the vehicles were left unlocked, with the exception of one, where thieves smashed a window to gain entry, deputies said.
The thieves generally take small amounts of cash and any other unsecured items, according to the release.
Officials are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and secure all valuables, especially when it’s dark. Residents are also encouraged to leave a light on or have a motion light to help deter thieves.
