Deputies: Pedestrian struck, cited for OWI
Woman not injured
BRODHEAD, Wis. — A Brodhead woman walking down a county highway was struck by a truck and cited for drunken driving, according to a release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the W300 block of County Road H in the town of Decatur at 5:48 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
Investigators said the driver of the truck, Leonard C. Nickels, 46, of Brodhead, was traveling east on County Road H when he swerved to try to avoid a pedestrian in the road. The pedestrian, Karessa J. Patterson, 31, of Brodhead, denied being struck and refused EMS.
Patterson was walking toward Brodhead to get gas for her vehicle that she left in a driveway in the W300 block of County Road E. Deputies said she was arrested on suspicion of second-offense operating while intoxicated and on a probation violation and was cited for having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and failure to walk on the left side of the highway.
