Deputies locate driver who fled crash scene
2 Marshall women were seriously injured in crash
MEDINA TOWNSHIP, Wis. — Dane County sheriff’s deputies said they have located the driver who fled on foot after a rollover crash that injured two Marshall women early Tuesday morning.
Sheriff’s officials said they made contact with the driver, Tyler J. Hanson, 18, of Deerfield, on Tuesday evening, and Hanson was admitted to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison with injuries he suffered as a result of the crash.
Deputies responded to Oak Park Road, north of Schenk Lane in Medina Township at 1:24 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash.
Investigators said the man driving lost control of the truck and fled on foot before help arrived.
Two female passengers, both 21 years old, were transported to a hospital. They remained hospitalized Wednesday with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, but alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors, according to a Dane County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Sheriff’s officials said that upon his release from the hospital, Hanson will be facing two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety. He is also being cited for reckless driving causing injury, operating after suspension, driving too fast for conditions, hit and run property, failure to notify police of a crash and operating left of center, according to the news release.
