Truck strikes power pole, police find meth, pot
ELLENBORO TOWNSHIP, Wis. — A traffic crash in Grant County revealed suspected crystal meth, marijuana and weapons, according to sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies were called to County Road A near Grancy Road in Ellenboro Township at 1:04 p.m. Sunday for a report of a truck that had struck a power pole.
Dustin Caya, 28, of Bagley, had lost control of the truck and struck the pole, breaking the pole and putting power lines across the roadway, according to investigators. Caya refused treatment.
A K-9 alerted deputies to the presence of the odor of narcotics, leading to a search of Caya’s truck.
Deputies said they found suspected crystal methamphetamine and marijuana in the truck and on Caya. They said they also found six loaded handguns and rifles, including an AR-15 assault weapon. One handgun was in Caya’s pocket, according to deputies.
Caya was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of meth paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
